Awaiting the solidarity

As expected, protests erupted again in Iran today. Undoubtedly encouraged by the events in Egypt, Iranians took to the streets in defiance of a repressive regime that surpasses that of Egypt’s Mubarak. Of course, the Iranian government will not hesitate to use brutal force against the demonstrators. Equally expected will be the world’s reluctance to express a level of outrage against Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the mullahs and support for the demonstrations. Will President Obama step forward and offer anything more than an observation?…I seriously doubt it. At least the press is on top of the situation….for now.Whether or not they will continue the coverage with the adoration they showered upon the events in Cairo remains to be seen.
