With the weekend rolling around, it’s the perfect time to catch up on the various and sundry items of the week. As usual, there’s a variety of the sublime and the absurd. More of the latter, unfortunately.
YOU CAN DO WHAT YOU LIKE….AS LONG AS WE APPROVE….
That sums up the view of the Obama Administration and the NLRB counsel, Lafe Sullivan as he appeared before a Congressional hearing on the NLRB’s suit against Boeing and their plans to assemble the 787 in South Carolina, rather than Washington state. Boeing and labor haven’t always had the best relationship. But apparently Boeing is not allowed to go where people actually WANT to work for them!
“Boeing has every right to manufacture planes in South Carolina, or anywhere else, for that matter, as long as those decisions are based on legitimate business considerations.” – Lafe Sullivan
Looks like the government can now tell companies what is and isn’t a “business consideration”. Yet another “good” call by the Obama Administration.
YOU KNOW SOMETHING…YOU MAY BE RIGHT!
That must have been what White House Chief of Staff, Bill Daley, was thinking as he spoke to the National Association of Manufacturers on Thursday. The attendees were none to happy with the Administration’s continued and aggressive expansion of government regulations and oversight. And they made sure he knew it, based on the questions he received.
“Sometimes you can’t defend the indefensible..” – Bill Daley
You said it, Mr. Daely!….And you wonder why we have 9+% unemployment!
GET IT WHILE THE GETTIN’ IS GOOD!
Obviously a caving to due pressure, the Administration has decided it’s best to put an end to the option of companies applying for a waiver of the potentially disastrous government program, better known as Obamacare. With over 1400 waivers granted…so far, the deadline for application is now Sept. 22, 2011. Obviously, this poorly crafted piece of legislation and its authors were not prepared for the reaction of most businesses…”Hey!…You know what?..this isn’t really going to work for us…”
NOT TO WORRY….
Just in case you missed it….and were concerned, since everyone seems to be hurtin’ these days…well, almost everyone. Seems our beloved leaders in Washington are doing just fine, financially speaking. Even the usually “blind” Politico had the nerve to admit the following:
…”members of Congress remain far wealthier than the average American, and their net worth keeps shooting up, regardless of the real world economy.” Gee, I didn’t know the boys at the Politico knew there was a difference between the “real world” economy and the economy in Washington…
Don’t you feel better, now?….
