The Death of Common Sense

Thought I’d take this opportunity of returning here to highlight the lack of sensible thought and common sense in this world. Especially when it comes to those who seem to lack a coherent vision.

My latest encounter concerns my giant, monster, mega-bank..as consumer advocate, Clark Howard,  fondly refers to them.

My inquiry concerned which routing number to use for IRS tax refunds. I just wanted to clarify. And their website isn’t exactly clear.

This was the response:

“Thank you for contacting XXXXXX. My name is Wilma, and it is my
pleasure to assist you today.

IRS. I do realize the importance of this request and I appreciate the

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think I need a tax advisor in order to find a correct routing number!…Obviously, Wilma didn’t bother to realize what I was asking! It’s this sort of cluelessness that gives one grave concerns about our future!..

“Trumping” the Election!

trumpster1

Needless to say, I’ve made up MY mind about who to support in 2016. Provided he’s still a candidate. I’m really hoping the latter comes true.

Donald Trump has scored big with millions of Americans who have been looking for someone to give voice to their frustrations over the last decade. Imagine that! A candidate who tells it like it is and says what needs to be said! What a novel idea!

After major Republicans flubs in 2008 and 2012, why shouldn’t they?… How a candidate could lose to the absolute worst president in the history of the United States is beyond me! But, Mitt Romney managed to do so!

Along comes Donald Trump in 2015, seizing upon what he KNOWS Americans feel! No other politician would have the gall to take advantage of that! Of course, Trump isn’t a politician. Considering how BAD this country’s national disgust is with those that have been in charge for far too long, he is the right man at the right time.

As expected, the political class, pundits, and prognosticators are up in arms! There’s no way they’re going to stand by and allow someone who actually LISTENS to the people find his way to the White House. Their frustration lies in the fact that they just can’t seem to grasp the situation. Which is something anyone with common sense can figure out!

I’d like to defer to Rush Limbaugh’s analysis of the Trump saga as it continues to play out since the first Republican debate.. As usual, ‘the godfather’ lays it out in laymen’s terms and makes it crystal clear!….

“There’s a percentage of the population that is totally fed up with the political class, including the media. And they have wanted things said to people and about people for the people they’ve been voting for for years and they haven’t heard it. I mean, the media is not loved. The media in some cases is despised, and Trump is giving it right back to ’em in ways that many people in this country have dreamed of happening. And, as such, he comes off as refreshing….

There is real visceral anger over this amnesty BS. There is real visceral anger over what’s been done for the economy. There is real visceral anger over what is being done to the health care system via Obamacare. The reason they don’t know it is because they do not care to talk to the people who feel that way, so they never do features on them. They never go out and do man-on-the-street interviews with people like that.

Because they are interested in furthering the agenda that has made all of this happen. Now, they know there are gonna be some people that disagree with it, but they immediately relegate them to insignificant status. They’re either bitter clingers or they’re lunkheads or they’re small in number or they’re just old-fashioned ditties that don’t deal well with change or what have you. But they’re missing the real anger, and it’s been building.

The anger, you can see it in the midterm 2010, 2014 elections. There have been people have shown up in droves. The Democrats have lost over a thousand seats in those midterm elections, and part of those elections were Republicans being elected because the people voting for them wanted them to stop all of this, or at least try. And they don’t see any trying to stop it. They don’t see any effort being made, any serious effort to defund Planned Parenthood.

I think there’s some real outrage in this country over what has been learned, was always suspected but now what has been confirmed was going on in those abortion clinics. There’s real anger out there. And the one person that’s come along that’s tapped into it and that gives everybody the impression that he’s fully aware of it and agrees with them is Donald Trump. As such, he’s got a pretty wide berth here. He’s got a pretty big margin of error…”

“Visceral anger!”..That sums it up perfectly! Millions of Americans are simply fed up! And they have been waiting for YEARS to have a candidate that speaks to that! Say what you will about Trump..love him..hate him… He knows what he’s doing and offers the best chance to turn around the disastrous direction in which we’re currently headed. Sadly, most other  GOP options can’t come near dynamic enthusiasm Trump projects. And the strongest attraction?..He doesn’t give a DAMN about the media and political elites. And that frightens them! For me, that is a MAJOR advancement in taking control of a nation that seems to be SPIRALING out of control!

Disenchantment….and your Tuesday TV!

Great piece from ‘The New York Post’….highlighted by ‘The Godfather’ today!….

Bam’s angry adviser

Back when he agreed to advise the Obama administration on economics, General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt told friends that he thought it would be good for GE and good for the country. A life-long Republican, Immelt said he believed he could at the very least moderate the president’s distinctly anti-business instincts.

That was three years ago; these days Immelt is telling friends something quite different.

Sure, GE has managed to feast on federal subsidies, particularly the “green-energy” giveaways that are Obamanomics’ hallmark.

But Immelt doesn’t think he’s had anywhere near as much luck moderating the president’s fat-cat-bashing, left-leaning economic agenda of taxing businesses and entrepreneurs to pay for government bloat.

Friends describe Immelt as privately dismayed that, even after three years on the job, President Obama hasn’t moved to the center, but instead further left. The GE CEO, I’m told, is appalled by everything from the president’s class-warfare rhetoric to his continued belief that big government is the key to economic salvation.

Or, as one friend recently put it to me, “Jeff thought he could make a difference, and now realizes he couldn’t.”

Immelt’s conversion from public Obama supporter to a private detractor is important: It shows how even businessmen who feast off his subsidies worry about his overall economic agenda and its long-term impact on the economy.

Don’t expect Immelt to say anything publicly about the downside of president’s economic agenda anytime soon: He’s still serving as what is considered the top outside economic adviser to the White House. (A GE spokesman insists that the reports I’m sharing here about Immelt’s private criticism of Obama are “ludicrous.”)

GE has too much to lose for Immelt to publicly ’fess up to his disdain. The president now routinely talks up his desire to tax businesses that create jobs overseas, and GE overseas expansion is well-documented. Nor does the company want to put all its green subsidies at risk.

And of course the last thing Immelt or his shareholders need is for the president to turn his class-warfare fire on them, as he did to his erstwhile pals in the banking business.

Yet friends report that Immelt’s displeasure with the president’s economic policies is real and palpable in private settings.

Back in 2008, the GE boss gave both to GOP presidential nominee John McCain and, in the Democratic primaries, to Hillary Clinton; he’s said that he voted for McCain. But GE as a whole was one of candidate Obama’s top donors. As noted, Immelt joined the new president’s team, first as a member of Obama’s Economic Advisory Recovery Board and later as head of his Council on Jobs and Competitiveness.

Yet even as Immelt continues to dispense advice to the president, friends tell me, he’s privately rooting for Mitt Romney to win the Republican nomination and defeat Obama in the fall.

A GE spokesman says simply, “Mr. Immelt has not decided to support Gov. Romney.” OK — but the GE “community” sure has. In 2008, GE execs (who often take their giving cues from the guy at the top) gave over five times more to Obama than to McCain. This time around, GE executives have raised nearly twice as much for Romney as for Obama, and Romney isn’t even the nominee yet.

I’m told a clue to Immelt’s disenchantment with the president can be found in GE’s annual letter to shareholders, in which the CEO laments, “We live in a tough era in which the public discourse, in general, is negative . . . American companies, particularly big companies, are vilified,” when “we need to work together to find a better way.”

Sure doesn’t sound like an Obama booster to me.

CRITIC’S CORNER TUESDAY – ‘THE RIVER’, ‘JUSTIFIED’,

•Fans have one last chance to travel down The River (ABC, 9 ET/PT), as this ratings-troubled series reaches its first-year conclusion.

Tonight, an unknown killer stalks the crew, though chances are they’re in more danger from a known killer: cancellation.

There are many things to praise in Justified (FX, 10 ET/PT), but this week, let’s go with this: Does any TV hour have better dialogue?

And for that matter, does any star deliver his lines with a more enjoyable, perplexed-by-stupidity wit, laced with an undertone of menace, than Timothy Olyphant?

Tonight, Olyphant’s Raylan struggles to keep Dickie Bennett (a delightfully squirrely turn by Jeremy Davies) in prison, all while his battle with Quarles (Neal McDonough, a master of menace himself) comes closer to its boiling point.

Meanwhile, the election for sheriff takes a turn that proves once again that Boyd Crowder, played by the fabulous Walton Goggins, is not a man to underestimate.

Alternately humorous and horrifying, and littered with clever, well-earned twists, this is just a great, jampacked hour of TV from one of the medium’s best series.

Someone’s got the ‘GUTS’ to say it!

What a GREAT way to start the Thanksgiving holiday!

This story made the local news here in Atlanta, but I’m sure it reflects the national mood PERFECTLY!

Bill Looman of U.S. Crane has made his feelings known by plastering his company vehicles with the sign you see above. Like millions of other Americans, he realizes what a disdain President Obama has for the private sector, for business, and people in this country that take risks to make our nation better for EVERYONE!  He knows the policies of the Obama administration have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to spur growth and inspire confidence. Yet, our illustrious leader continues his campaign…and that’s what it is, make no doubt about it!…of antagonizing and impugning business. This President and his fellow Democrats care ONLY for WHATEVER they can do to remain in office. And until more Americans wake up, like Mr. Looman, you will continue to see our country in decline!
