Let’s Talk!

Sometimes I wonder what you boys would do if you weren't gay. You'd have no identity. It was easy when you couldn't talk about it. Now it's all you talk about. You talk about it so much that you forget about all the other things that you are.

“Sometimes I wonder what you boys would do if you weren’t gay. You’d have no identity. It was easy when you couldn’t talk about it. Now it’s all you talk about. You talk about it so much that you forget about all the other things that you are.”

This great line from Greg Berlanti’s 2000 film, “The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy”, does an excellent job of summing up my feelings concerning the recent happenings on the national stage.

Gay marriage is indeed a landmark occurrence for this country. And it offers great opportunity for many gay Americans. Close personal friends have finally realized a dream they’ve had for decades now come true. And I couldn’t be happier for them.

Unfortunately, they tend to view so many aspects of life through the prism of being gay. I’ve never been one to subscribe to that. Therein lies my difficulty with the entire politicized, polarizing issue.

It could be said that those that took the gay marriage issue to the forefront of societal consciousness are pioneers. No argument there….But..what happens now?…

A recent news report quoted Andrew Sullivan, the author and writer commonly credited with the case for gay marriage, as saying gay men don’t seem to have much in common, other than being oppressed! I thought, “What an ignorant, idiotic thing to say!” Excuse ME, Mr. Sullivan! Many of us were leading productive, happy lives LONG before you took this matter into YOUR own hands! And we continue to do so! To think the common bond among gay men is OPPRESSION! That’s a cheap, condescending cop out that short sells millions of gay Americans who manage to create, live, love, and learn!

Andrew Sullivan

Believe it or not, many gay Americans live their lives much the same as everyone else. Careers, home, family… Likely, much to the chagrin of the politically obsessed in the gay community. They have championed the issue…much in the framework of “like it…or ELSE!” to their fellow countrymen. That doesn’t sit well with me. I don’t care who you are or the nature of the contentious point that’s attempting to be made. But…that being said…it’s where we are these days. Government has assumed the role of dictating thought AND deed. And that should frighten ALL of us!

I’m not ashamed of being gay. But, it’s not EVERYTHING I am! Mr. Sullivan, and those like him, would do well to understand that I don’t NEED them to speak for me! I can manage that on my own. I respect his efforts and ideals. However, I don’t appreciate being branded a traitor to the cause for simply living my OWN life!

Our days are numbered, folks..

imageNot much hope in anything any longer…

With today’s supreme court ruling upholding subsidies for Obamacare, it’s just the latest development that leaves you shaking your head in disbelief.

Barack Obama has become the most divisive, partisan, arrogant, and detached president to occupy the Oval office! On issue after issue, he’s played one side against another..or multiple parties against each other. He values nothing more than political expediency. This is all done under the guise of “fairness” and “for the good of the American people.”! When, truth be told, it’s lead to an exhausted and frustrated nation.

Ranging from the fiasco that is the hallmark of Obamacare to the embarrassing state of our foreign affairs, President Obama has managed to shirk responsibility and lay blame at the doorstep of his political opposition. A compliant media has made sure to characterize every situation to where it appears he is continually locked in battle with the dastardly Republicans ( an inept bunch, if any ever existed!)! Yet, nothing changes..nothing improves. Race relations, national debt, unemployment, foreign relations. It’s all a mess. And President Obama has craftily avoided criticism or a relationship to ANY of it!

The nation continues to busy itself with whatever may be. Or immerse itself in the turmoil of the issue du jour! And it plays perfectly with the Obama and Democrat agenda. Characterize the political opposition as the root of all evil, while offering NO concrete solution whatsoever!

It is said that Chief Justice Roberts ruled the way he did on this latest challenge to avoid disrupting the operation of the ACA. Rather than stepping back to take an objective, unbiased look at the detail of the law enacted without a SINGLE Republican vote…a law that few, if any, had the slightest idea of the consequences…he decides to take the coward’s way out. And that is what he is in this regard. A coward. A man who set aside his responsibility for the sake of political expedience.

It’s the nation we’ve become today. More and more Americans are giving up hope of turning things around. Of continuing the tried and true practice of the free markets and the entrepreneur. Leaving only a massive, consuming behemoth in the federal government.

It discourages me to see how and why we’ve surrendered ourselves to the warped whims and shameless arrogance of those who support this sort of control.

Today, we saw just another nail in the coffin of the American spirit.

By this I mean that I refuse to accept the Left’s assertions that I am racist because I’m “white,” oppressed because I’m a woman, ignorant because I believe in God, and hate-filled because I skew conservative. I refuse and refute these narratives. It is easier to deal with people if we categorize and generalize them, dehumanize them, take away their unique individuality. It’s easier and it’s lazy, which is why it is done. People are amazingly complex, even in large groups. They are unpredictable. They are infuriatingly irrational or irritatingly logical.

I am not defined by anything, let alone race. I choose to see the beauty in people -all people – regardless of skin color or country of origin, because that is how I viewed people as a child. I never had to…

Somebody’s Gotta Say It!

Call him what you will, but Donald Trump is RIGHT about SO many things!…..

Some excerpts from his speech in announcing his running for president…

“I’m really rich…that’s the kind of thinking you need for this country. It sounds crass, it’s not crass..”

“That’s the kind of thinking our country needs…”… “We have the opposite thinking. We have losers. We have people that don’t have it. We have people that are morally corrupt.”

On Obamacare and the website fiasco:  “I hire people, they do a website, it costs $3!

On our losing status in the world:

“I’m not saying they’re stupid, I like China..”… “I just sold an apartment for $15 million to someone from China. Am I supposed to dislike them?”

“Politicians are all talk and no action,”….“We have losers. We have people who are morally corrupt. We have people who are taking the country down the drain.”

“I’m really proud of my success, I really am,”….”I’ve employed tens of thousands of people over my lifetime. That means medical, that means education, that means everything. So a large accounting firm and my accountants have been working for months — because it’s big and complex — and they’ve put together a statement.”

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best..”

“They’re sending people who have lots of problems,… which include “drugs” and “being rapists.”

Just a few of what many consider outrageous remarks…That very well may be..but, for the most part they tell it like it is!!

We’ve already heard what many of the top streaming music services have to say regarding Apple Music, but now another company with whom Apple is now competing has commented on its new battle. At WWDC, Apple introduced a new News app that will be built into iOS 9 when it launches later this fall. The app features a magazine-style interface that when showed off for the first time, prompted many comparisons to the popular Flipboard reading app.

A SPOT ON assessment!…

I’m tired. Not just physically, (kids will do that) – I’m intellectually and emotionally tired. I cannot seem to muster the strength or will to care about the current state of our country because nothing we do or say seems to matter. Come on, prove to me this isn’t true.

Look at our so-called conservative leaders. So desperate for power are they that they will support every unlawful power grab Obama makes, banking on the belief that they will someday be on top again.

Does anything we, the voters, say or do matter? Not really. They give us lip service, pat us on the head, patronize us, and then do whatever the hell they want when they get to DC. Meanwhile, the world around us is falling apart, our enemies are emboldened, and our allies are left to fend for themselves. Real people all over the world are dying…

“Pearls of Wisdom”

With so much constantly thrown at us in today’s out of control world, I’ve been searching for a summation that adequately puts it into words.

Of course, leave it to ‘The Godfather’ to put it all in perspective!

Here’s an excerpt from Rush Limbaugh’s radio show on May 14, 2015. I’ve added appropriate illustrations, but once you give it a read, you’ll see how it explains how we’ve come in these dire straits….

Within minutes of this train derailment you just knew the word ‘infrastructure’ was gonna be bandied about all over the place, and it was.   The word ‘infrastructure’ was halfway around the world before anybody found out that infrastructure had nothing to do with this, that it was an engineer.”

“How many other reporters have donated to the Clinton Crime Family Foundation?  That’s what I want to know.  I don’t think it stops Stephanopoulos.”

“What other reporters and news people and who knows who else have donated to the Clinton Crime Family Foundation?  That, to me, is the big question, and I don’t know that we’re ever gonna get an answer.  Wouldn’t it be funny if the New England Patriots have?  He-he.  Just kidding.”

“You may think that there’s still a line between journalism and politicians, the president.  That’s gone.  It’s totally gone.”

“All of this fraud that is occurring to the American people, it didn’t start with Obama, and I don’t want anybody to think that that’s what I believe.  Fraud, at the highest levels of US government, has been going on for a while.  It would be hard, actually, to peg when it began.”

“There’s a reason so many people want to live in Washington.  If you want money, that’s where it is; that’s where it’s allocated; that’s where it’s taxed; that’s where it’s collected; that’s where it’s banked; that’s where it is spent. ”

“The degree and the level of fraud and deceit in the past six and a half years is so bad and so deep that it’s the reason we have the Tea Party.  The degree of fraud, the irresponsible spending and money that we don’t have, has millions of Americans legitimately concerned for the future of the country, particularly in terms of economic opportunity for their kids and grandkids.”

“Where does the government get money?  They have to take it in the form of taxes or borrowing. They take the money from the economy that they’re gonna stimulate.”

“The stimulus bill was not about infrastructure any more than Obamacare is about affordable health insurance.  You cannot fully fund fraud.  You can never satisfy con men.”

“When normal people yesterday, average, ordinary, the people that make this country work, when they were mourning the dead, when they were seriously worried about the accident and the damage and the injuries, the Democrats were out celebrating a crisis while the bodies were still scattered across an accident site. They saw an opportunity to once again defame conservatives and Republicans.  They misstated facts, such as dilapidated infrastructure was the cause of the derailment.”

“The right to private property, I think it’s right in there with free speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly.  Not to say the other amendments are of less importance.  It’s hard to quantify them that way.  They’re all crucial, and they’re all relevant, and they are all purposeful and unique in defining this country as something separate and distinct from every other country that exists or ever has.”

“Liberals love Europe, and Europe equals trains.  Trains equal Europe.  Trains equal good liberal.  Trains also equal saving the climate and all this cockamamie crap.”

“You know what New England called the guy that was letting the air of the footballs? The Deflator.  The Patriots are saying, ‘No, he lost a lot of weight.  That’s why he was called the Deflator.’ Come on! There’s never been a person in the world that lost a lot of weight that anybody ever called the Deflator.”

“By the way, the latest pictures of the guy? He hasn’t lost any weight, it doesn’t look like to me.  So I don’t know what the Deflator looked like before he started deflating.”

“You know, it’s a good thing, folks, I have a strong, strong constitution, spine, and am well adjusted, otherwise I would be in the loony bin.”

“Obama’s over $800 billion stimulus bill back in 2009 was an infrastructure bill, so we were told.  Repair roads, bridges, schools, and all that.  It turns out to be as big a lie as Obamacare. The stimulus bill wasn’t about infrastructure any more than Obamacare is about affordable health insurance.”

“One thing that the Bushes are, they’re tight. They’re a very tight family, and loyalty is the coin of the realm to them. I say that in a noncritical way.  Just informative. Jeb is not going to throw his brother under the bus.”

“You’ve heard the old saw, ‘If you criticize Obama, if you criticize Democrats, the independents don’t like it and they’re gonna run right back to the Democrat Party.’ Never mind the fact that the Democrat Party does nothing but defame Republicans.”

“Not every road and bridge and school is federal. It’s up to states to do some of this stuff, too.  Or a combined federal-state effort.”

“Let’s say it’s accurate, that 5% of the federal budget is for infrastructure. Fine and dandy.  That just means the Democrats are gonna have some crumbling infrastructure they can blame on the Republicans.”

“The Republicans haven’t had anything to say about what happens in Baltimore since the 1960s.”

“I don’t know how long ago you have to go back to be able to say that the Democrat Party had people in it that were focused on good governance, responsible government and all that.  All I know is you’ve gotta go back a long way.”

“We’re in the midst of what the Democrat Party thinks could be the last power grab necessary.  They believe if they play their cards right in the next two years, there will not be a viable Republican Party to even worry about.  That’s what they want.”

“When’s the last liberal you can think of that expressed deep concern over the way conservatives are being treated in the media?  Can you name one?”

“I am a household name in all four corners of the world, plus the frozen tundra of Antarctica.”

Obama-Laughing-at-Electorate

The excerpt does a great job exemplifying our frustration with 6+ years of this disaster in the White House…a president who has inflicted more damage and managed to pull the wool over the eyes over more voters than ANY president in U.S. history!
